Mary Ann's Surprise Party

Earlier this month my sister-in-law Heather hosted a surprise birthday party for Mary Ann (Kyle's mom). It was a special gathering of many of her family and friends, and she was totally SURPRISED! Surprise parties are so much fun, but I think it's hard to be the one who is surprised. Of course, Mary Ann handled it graciously and her reaction was priceless. Many sweet words were said and hugs exchanged, and it was great to spend the evening with the whole gang all together.

Grandpa's 93rd Birthday

Last month we celebrated my grandpa's 93rd birthday! You read that right - he's 93 and just the happiest guy around. Most of the family was able to make it, and it was so great to spend the day with everyone. The next generation of kids are finally getting old enough to enjoy playing together, too, so there is new life running around again!

The boys getting in the swimming pool. My grandma bought this pool for the
kids to swim in up at the beach - so thoughtful of her!

Too much birthday for grandpa!
Playing down at the beach
Out on the mudflats!
Gramps with Drew and Mary
Singing to grandpa
Grandpa just dancin' along...
And clapping!
Happy birthday gramps!

I didn't get a pic of gram and gramps together this year, so I'm re-sharing this one from a few years ago that is still my favorite :)

Drew's 2 year photos

These should have been posted when I did Drew's 24 month update, but I could not get him to sit for the camera for the life of me! He is obsesseddddd with cameras and can't control himself long enough to sit still for a picture if he knows someone is taking pictures. He understands the idea and he tries so hard to sit still but then he rushes over to see the screen. As a mom that loves to take pictures, it makes me cra-zy. It's so hard to get a picture of him smiling - even though he smiles all day long - because as soon as he sees the camera out he comes running to look at the screen and gets upset if you try to get him to smile for a picture.

So if you're following the calendar you'll know that it took me TWO MONTHS to get the following photos of Drew. I about gave up!

Got it!
